The Mandelin reagent also tests for MDxx and amphetamines, so using it conjunction with the Marquis reagent increases the reliability of the results for these substances. It will also indicate ketamine and PMA (a harmful and potentially lethal drug).

How to Use INDICATE MANDELIN Reagent
- Prepare a small amount of the substance to be tested and place on a piece of glass or white tile.
- Wearing protective clothing, gloves and eyewear, remove the reagent from the phial and carefully unscrew the cap. Carefully remove cap and fit dripolator (see fitting instructions included)
- Drip 1-2 drops on the sample and observe any colour change occurring over 1-2 minutes. View under a bright white light.
- A MDA reaction is difficult to identify and a sample containing MDA may be identified as MDMA, MDEA, or MDA.
You can buy an Enlighten Mandelin reagent from the buy page.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Read before using this reagent
Mandelin Reagent contains highly corrosive Sulphuric Acid and 1% Ammonium Vanadate which is toxic.
Appropriate protective clothing, gloves and eyewear must be worn at all times when using INDICATE spot test reagents. Never use INDICATE reagents near areas where food is prepared. Always neutralise any surface spills with a solution of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda); 2 teaspoons per cup of water. Rinse all affected areas thoroughly with water for more than 15 minutes.
A POSITIVE TEST RESULT NEVER IMPLIES A DRUG IS SAFE TO CONSUME
Hazardous Substance Information
Primary Routes of Exposure: Inhalation, contact with eyes or skin. Symptoms and Indications of Exposure: Acute toxicity – Irritation of eyes, nose & throat.
Splashes in the eyes or on the skin will cause severe burns. Chronic toxicity – Repeated or prolonged exposure to dilute solutions of sulphuric acid may cause irritation of the skin. Repeated or prolonged exposure to mists or vapors of sulphuric acid may cause erosion of teeth, chronic irritation of the eyes or chronic inflammation of the nose, throat & bronchial tubes.
Emergency & First Aid Procedures
In case of contact immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing & shoes. Call a Physician. If swallowed do not give emetics; if conscious give tap water, milk or Milk-of-Magnesia, call a physician.
Storage Information
Avoid storage with chlorates, carbides, fulminates & picrates. Contact of acid with metals may form flammable and / or toxic products. Store at 10-38 degrees Celcius. Keep out of reach of children
Spot Test Reagents:
- Have limitations, and can only give an INDICATION of the possible presence of a drug or drug type.
- CANNOT DETECT ALL DRUGS and DRUG TYPES.
- DO NOT identify adulterants, drug mixtures and masking agents.
- Are best when employed as colour indicators in Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) applications.
